I'm not sure this case really applies to browsing history. Usually it's referred to user-generated content (such as messages or files).
Also, the case only applies to situations in which the service can't read the content (being here the browsing history), whereas the privacy policy states: "This way we make sure that nobody between you and us can see your searches." (so Ecosia may view these searches).
