The privacy policy states that "We may use cookies, web beacons, or other anonymous tracking information to improve our server's interaction with your computer. " This makes sense when you consider the fact that slither.io is an MMO; it makes sense for the serivce to track its players to an extent. The game also tracks the last skin you used, which is probably where the cookies come in. It's not specified how using trackers to collect information is expected to improve server interactions however.
