Here we can only read the user has to indemnify and hold harmless the service against claims, not defend. It could be extended to a sentence that follows this "Alibaba.com reserves the right, at our own expense, to assume the exclusive defense and control of any matter otherwise subject to indemnification by the Member, in which event the Member shall cooperate with Alibaba.com in asserting any available defenses".
