Some activities may also include the actor’s IP address (login attempts, for example) and user agent. This information is only available to WordPress.com and is not available to The School Reading List. The School Reading List does not operate a service for registered users at this time.

Activity Tracked: Login attempts/actions, post and page update and publish actions, comment/pingback submission and management actions, plugin and theme management actions, widget updates, user management actions, and the modification of other various site settings and options. Retention duration of activity data depends on the site’s plan and activity type. See the complete list of currently-recorded activities (along with retention information). The School Reading List does not operate a service for registered users at this time.

Data Synced: Successful and failed login attempts, which will include the actor’s IP address and user agent. This information is only available to WordPress.com and is not available to The School Reading List. The School Reading List does not operate a service for registered users at this time.

Contact Form

Data Used: If Akismet is enabled on the site, the contact form submission data — IP address, user agent, name, email address, website, and message — is submitted to the Akismet service (also owned by Automattic) for the sole purpose of spam checking. The actual submission data is stored in the database of the site on which it was submitted and is emailed directly to the owner of the form (i.e. the site author who published the page on which the contact form resides). This email will include the submitter’s IP address, timestamp, name, email address, website, and message. This information is only available to WordPress.com and is not available to The School Reading List.

Data Synced (?): Post and post meta data associated with a user’s contact form submission. If Akismet is enabled on the site, the IP address and user agent originally submitted with the comment are synced, as well, as they are stored in post meta. This information is only available to WordPress.com and is not available to The School Reading List.

Google Analytics

This site no longer (30/05/2021) uses Google Analytics or any other cookie-based tracking system and has no intention of using such a system in the future.

Sharing

Data Used: When sharing content via email (this option is only available if Akismet is active on the site), the following information is used: sharing party’s name and email address (if the user is logged in, this information will be pulled directly from their account), IP address (for spam checking), user agent (for spam checking), and email body/content. This information is only available to WordPress.com / Akismet and is not available to The School Reading List.

Subscriptions

Schoolreadinglist.co.uk does not operate subscriptions, nor does it hold any user data for subscriptions. The School Reading List does operate a Mailchimp email newsletter service. Mailchimps privacy policies can be viewed here: https://mailchimp.com/legal/privacy/ . The School Reading List does not have access to any tracking, IP, or demographic data that may be collected by Mailchimp. The School Reading List only has access to the information entered by a user when signing up to the newsletter – ie a name and an email address, and the date of the signup.

WordPress.com Stats

Data Used: IP address, WordPress.com user ID (if logged in), WordPress.com username (if logged in), user agent, visiting URL, referring URL, timestamp of event, browser language, country code. Important: The SRL site (the site owner) does not have access to any of this information via this feature. For example, a site owner can see that a specific post has 285 views, but he/she cannot see which specific users/accounts viewed that post. Stats logs — containing visitor IP addresses and WordPress.com usernames (if available) — are retained by Automattic for 28 days and are used for the sole purpose of powering this feature.

Activity Tracked: Post and page views, video plays (if videos are hosted by WordPress.com), outbound link clicks, referring URLs and search engine terms, and country. When this module is enabled, Jetpack also tracks performance on each page load that includes the Javascript file used for tracking stats. This is exclusively for aggregate performance tracking across Jetpack sites in order to make sure that our plugin and code is not causing performance issues. This includes the tracking of page load times and resource loading duration (image files, Javascript files, CSS files, etc.). The site owner has the ability to force this feature to honor DNT settings of visitors. By default, DNT is honored on the SRL site.

Copyright notice

This website and its content are copyright © School Reading List 2009-present. Nor may you transmit it or store it on any other website or other forms of electronic retrieval system.

We have placed clear and unambiguous copyright notices on every page of our website. We have also disabled printing, copying, and pasting and right-clicking on our website.
Copying content from our website requires an unusually high technical ability, and to effect copying requires ‘hacking’, which is a breach of this website’s terms and conditions, and the law – specifically the Computer Misuse Act 1990.

Under UK law copyright infringement is a strict liability tort. Therefore it does not matter if the copyright infringement was intended or not, it is still a breach of the Copyright Act 1998. Furthermore, by copying material, in spite of the protections above, a user will have demonstrated an intent to commit copyright infringement – which for registered teachers could be construed as an act of professional misconduct that brings the teaching profession into disrepute.

Schoolreadinglist uses Copyscape to track infringements and will always pursue infringements.

We will send out automated copyright infringement notices to any website, person or organisation that copies our content. This will include sending notices to hosts, resellers and umbrella organisations. We will pursue damages and costs who are liable under applicable laws if infringement removals are not expedited and removed within 3 working days. We reserve the right to charge infringement fees and costs if removal is not expedited as required by local laws.

Linking policy

Schoolreadinglist.co.uk is happy for bona fide educators, educational institutions, media organisations, book publishers, literary marketers, writers and other websites that offer a free, educational and informational service to link to our website.

Schoolreadinglist.co.uk does not permit sites, social profiles, other services or individuals to link to our site for purposes that are malicious, harmful, derogatory, defamatory, bullying, harassing or otherwise negative, unwanted or designed to cause harm to individuals, organisations or technology.

Schoolreadinglist.co.uk does not use paid links (other than clearly identified banner advertising and affiliate links), does not offer link exchanges, does not buy or sell links, and does not offer guest posts.
